The team you will be a part of
The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This role in summary
As a Product Safety Engineer, your priority will be to enable Whirlpool to protect consumers by monitoring field incidents and identifying trends within safety data to identify new safety issues and partner with engineering to safeguard the design and manufacturing processes.
This position will be located in Rio Claro , São Paulo or Joinville , Santa Catarina on a 4 days on site working arrangement.
Your responsibilities will include
Reactive and Proactive safety activities such as:
Support Global Product Safety Managers and engineering teams with safety related field investigations by providing consolidated incident lists with relevant pictures and necessary supplemental data
Provide engineering support in risk assessments and with safeguarding plan to ensure all potential safety risks are mitigated to the consumer
Support Safety Lab Technicians to ensure safety allegations are properly investigated and coded with monitoring flags and classified correctly
Provide training to the local product development teams about our safety standards, processes, tools and guidelines
Oversee, manage, improve, and audit our safety processes to maximize process effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency using Continuous Improvement tools & mindset
Monitor incidents/issues over time to ensure field risks have been appropriately assessed and dispositioned per our product safety processes
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Solid experience in product safety, engineering, data analytics, or laboratory management
Proficient in English
Ability to manage multiple tasks on an independent basis.
Ability to work efficiently
Attention to detail
Preferred skills and experiences
Experience improving Processes using LEAN, CI, and/or Six Sigma techniques.
Knowledge of the use of FMEAs, Fault Trees, Risk assessment tools, Process Maps
Basic knowledge of spreadsheets, documents, presentation tools
Prior experience working with product safety
Appliance knowledge and consumer product design experience
