Boeing Global Services (BGS) engineering has an exciting opportunity and is seeking an experienced and self-starter candidate; Senior Project Engineer (Level 4) to support a multi-disciplined team. This position reports to the Senior Engineering leader for the Engineering Practices and Processes team in Boeing Global Services. We are looking for a candidate to lead the support and development of processes, tools, and training associated with technical design reviews and design records, across the BGS engineering capability teams: Global Engineering & Operations, Government Training Engineering, Support & Specialty Engineering and Commercial Modifications.

This role will also be involved in the implementation of design practices across the design practice system (design practices, technical design reviews, design records) in support of the program and capability teams. A successful candidate will lead development of the statement of work listed above by identifying and recommending improvements utilizing the principles and tools within project management. In this position, the individual will be collaborating with technical working groups and program Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to execute engineering design practice system deliverables and goals. Frequent interaction with technical fellows and senior engineering leadership – to resolve team priorities and initiatives. Ability to be forward thinking, provide strategic direction on business plans and be adaptive to multi-stakeholder requirements is critical for this role.

Position Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Lead BGS core engineering in the area of technical design reviews (TDRs) and design records

  • Supports the BGS Practices and Processes senior leader on engineering initiatives and other key working groups and projects across the engineering practices and processes team. This includes but is not limited to the design practice system (initiatives and deliverables)

  • Develops new statements of work (SOW) or refines existing ( SOW) to satisfy research and development, for ongoing and new project requirements within the design practice system ( technical design reviews, design records)

  • Lead key activities within TDRs and Design Records that are focused on standardization of processes/actions to drive resolution of repeat/recurrent issues

  • Ability to influence and negotiate technical changes on behalf of the engineering processes and practices leadership

  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, related to the BGS engineering technical design review tool

  • Leads analysis and develops system requirements in collaboration with the Engineering Tools team

  • Trains technical teams and provides technical guidance across BGS engineering capabilities and project teams on technical design reviews and design reviews

  • Leads agile team activities as the Scrum lead/co-lead, working to facilitate sprint planning and execution. Additionally, as a Scrum master, act as a coach to the rest of the team for agile methodologies

  • Ability to provide support to cost account manager in earned value management activities across various projects, including cost and performance tracking, budget planning & EAC analysis

  • Proactively communicates with leaders and peers across BGS engineering capability teams and engineering enterprise team

  • Keeps senior leadership and team members informed by communicating project status and participating in team meetings

  • Ability to execute and collaborate across (BGS engineering) with capability and program teams to ensure appropriate visibility of key process initiatives

  • Produces reports, presentations and defines plans that highlight upcoming design practice system deliverables for engineering and executive leadership

  • Understanding of program standards, policies and procedure

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

  • Works under minimal direction, and resolves cross-functional technical issues

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Education):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience within an engineering discipline such as (industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, computer science, and/or other engineering disciplines)

  • 5+ years of experience working with cross-functional or cross-organizational teams to develop and implement plans, schedules, or solutions

  • 3+ years of experience working the principles and tools within project management

  • 1+ years of experience leading or participating in a technical independent review

  • 1+ years of experience using advanced data visualization software, such as Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Familiarity with design practices and technical design reviews (or technical reviews)

  • 8+ years of experience in developing and managing processes and metrics

  • 5+ years of program and/or engineering platform facing experience

  • Experience with RIOs and Lean

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $114,750 – $165,600
