Description:

Boehringer Ingelheim (Ridgefield, CT) is seeking a driven and innovative Scientist IV or Senior Scientist to join a team of talented scientists committed to the discovery of innovative medicines to improve the life of patients with cardio-metabolic diseases. Located in close proximity to New York we harbor the R&D activities of Boehringer Ingelheim in the US.

Breakthrough medicines for the treatments of obesity, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and liver cirrhosis are urgently needed. In this role, the successful candidate will work in a matrixed environment within a diverse Histology / Imaging group and use automated quantitative imaging analysis to build the human link to disease, investigate target engagement and pharmacodynamic effects from pre-clinical studies, and support scientific collaborations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently identifies, develops, and implements experimental approaches that contribute to the advancement of the Global CMDR portfolio and BI Discovery Research goals

  • Independently identification and incorporation of new technologies for digital pathology and imaging analysis to solve scientific and technical challenges, and significantly enhances the efficiency of quantitative histopathologic analysis while ensuring the highest levels of quality and reproducibility

  • Identifies and proposes and manages expectations and quality of CRO services to enhance production and external collaborations to address scientific/technology gaps.

  • Communicate, in both oral and/or written form, experimental progress, documentation (e.g., lab notebook), scientific and/or strategic rationale for technologies implemented. Present and defend work at internal and external venues, and author peer-reviewed publications

  • Complies with all applicable regulations; Ensures that work performed in area of responsibility is conducted in a safe and compliant manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies

Requirements for Scientist III:

  • MS Degree with 3+ years of experience in a related field or BA Degree with 7+ years of experience in a related field

  • Moderate experience to develop and troubleshoot ISH, IHC, and multiplex IF is required

  • Proficient in digital pathology instruments (Polaris and PhenoImager) for brightfield and multispectral imaging acquisition is desirable

  • Substantial experience using Leica BOND for automated staining, InForm and HALO for algorithm development, and automated imaging analysis is desirable

  • Comfortable in working in a highly interactive and fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and deadlines

Requirements for Scientist IV:

  • MS Degree with 6+ years of experience in a related field or BA Degree with 10+ years of experience in a related field

  • Substantial experience to develop and troubleshoot ISH, IHC, and multiplex IF is required

  • Proficient in digital pathology instruments (Vectra 3, Polaris and PhenoImager) for brightfield and multispectral imaging acquisition is desirable

  • Extensive experience using Leica BOND for automated staining, InForm and HALO / HALO AI for algorithm development, and automated imaging analysis is desirable

  • Comfortable in working in a highly interactive and fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and deadlines

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
