Title: Sr HVAC Specialist

Division/ Dept.: Clinical Research Group/ Facilities

Location: Richmond, VA

Office status: Onsite (Mon-Fri)

Discover Impactful Work:

Provides team support for facility projects, ensuring projects are completed within budget, on schedule. Supports diverse activities related to facility services, building maintenance, engineering projects, and/or equipment maintenance.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day facility operations of specified area.

  • Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.

  • Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.

  • Performs inspections to ensure timeliness, compliance with requirements, and acceptable workmanship.

  • Coordinates assigned activities with outside contractors and vendors.

  • Develops criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

  • Universal EPA refrigerant card required

Experience:

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.

  • Journeyman level experience performing skilled trade work in HVAC preferred

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems

  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, Chillers, Controls, RTU, AHU, VAV, Humidifiers, Liebert units

  • Strong working knowledge of project management techniques and concepts

  • Adept at handling multiple projects and managing competing priorities

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Effective negotiation skills

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and outside vendors

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with relevant software
