Rehabilitation Technician at St. Mary's Hospital

Department: Acute Care Therapy Services

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The incumbent shall be responsible for providing support for patient care and carrying out therapeutic activities as directed by the Therapist in a team environment consistent with professional and ethical standards.

The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities as applicable, problem solving, and productivity.

Employment Qualifications

  • The incumbent shall be, at minimum, a high school graduate.

  • Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.

  • Experience working in a hospital or other health care setting is desirable.

  • Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide patient care support to clinician(s).

  • Demonstrate proficiency documenting in the electronic medical record as applicable.

  • Report patient response to interventions to clinician(s).

  • Prepare treatment areas.

  • Transport patients to and from activities as needed.

  • Observe all applicable safety processes and procedures.

  • Clean therapeutic equipment.

  • Perform clerical tasks.

Other Job Functions

Performance Improvement Area

  • Participate in department performance improvement activities as applicable.

  • Collect performance improvement data.

  • Participate in survey preparation activities.

  • Participate in department safety activities.

  • Contribute to the delivery of cost effective care.

Professional/Leadership Area

  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

  • Communicate and demonstrate a professional image and attitude to patients, families, clients, coworkers and others.

  • Adhere to policies and procedures of Bon Secours Virginia Health System.

  • Contribute to marketing activities as appropriate.

Team Area

  • Participate in team meetings.

  • Contribute to development of improved efficiency and productivity of the department’s clinical and administrative functions.

  • Participates as a team member by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job description when workload requires and as requested by supervisor.
