WestRock Company Manager, IBP Supply Planning in Richmond, Virginia

The IBP Supply Planning Manager will lead and manage the aggregation of all supply inputs to the mill system and drive accountability for input quality through the upstream suppliers, supporting the Supply Review phase of the IBP process.

This role is accountable for the balancing and optimization of the mill system resulting in an optimized supply plan that brings together different functions to ensure that the company’s financial, operational, play-to-win and supply chain objectives are achieved. In addition, this role is also accountable for aggregating and vetting the supply data for ad hoc scenario analysis in which SSM will be leveraged. The position is vital in providing critical analytical capabilities and skills with a bias toward action on recommendations from analysis.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, critical thinker, with a proven ability to lead and influence without authority to build consensus among stakeholders. The individual should have a strong background and understanding of supply chain management principles such as Production Planning, Mill Operations, Logistics and Inventory Management.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Manager of IBP Supply Planning position are:

  • Drive the supply balancing activities associated with the IBP Mill Supply Planning phase of Enterprise IBP

  • Develop IBP Supply review deck in conjunction with multiple stakeholders and publish to executive leadership monthly. Contribute to the IBP Supply Review meeting.

  • Collaborate with Demand Planning to run What-If scenarios and deliver scenario outputs reporting back to broader cross-functional group

  • Work with Mill Operations and Mill Finance on machine/costing inputs driving accuracy and accountability

  • Collaborate with Mill Senior Leadership on machine flexibility options that serve forecasted demand over the 2-year IBP window

  • Collaborate with Mill Senior Leadership on 5-year maintenance outage planning to ensure synchronization of capacity and demand

  • Lead and manage Supply Chain strategic projects as they apply to the IBP supply process

  • Track and report on external board market purchases and the volume available for WestRock’s to source

  • Responsible for the development and management of key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive IBP process adherence and improvement

  • Leverage industry best practices and continuous improvements to continually enhance IBP processes

  • Develop, mentor and coach talent as part of an overall succession planning effort

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in one of the following: Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management

  • Proven leadership skills: ability to design and rally organization to meet the needs of demanding partners.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, attention to accuracy, passion for improvement, and desire to work in a team/collaborative environment.

  • Ability to see the big picture and understand the key relationships between Supply Chain and other business functions

  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in building data models and extracting actionable data. Ability to communicate and translate data that is understandable across all levels of the organization.

  • Leading-edge analytical capabilities with a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and some working knowledge of Advanced Planning Scheduling (APS) systems

  • The ability to articulate complex ideas to all levels of management to influence or gain support within various levels in the organization for different groups and stakeholders.

  • Experience facilitating meetings and leading collaborative discussions with all levels of the organization

  • 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, and/or Analytics preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma project experience and/or Green Belt / Black Belt

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines and rapidly changing priorities

  • Knowledge of SQL a plus

  • APICS certification is a plus
