This position supports the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Operating Permits group within the Regulatory Strategy & Integration (RS&I) Organization. The RS&I team is seeking an experienced professional to support RCRA permitting for multiple Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities including preparation of Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 permit modification requests. Facility activities include container storage, treatment, tank systems, landfills, miscellaneous units, and closure units. Document preparation may include Waste Analysis Plans, Process Information, Inspection Schedule, Training Plan, Security, Preparedness & Prevention, Part A applications, and other documents required to support permit modification requests. A day in the life of a RCRA Environmental Scientist involves, but is not limited to the following: * Ensure compliance with RCRA regulations. * Contribute to the writing, review, and production of RCRA permit documents. * Coordinate document reviews to ensure that environmental and regulatory documents provided to regulators and the public have consistency, readability, and compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. * Provide feedback to ensure documents contain information and analyses with a sound basis for decision-making and are consistent with Ecology, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and DOE guidance and regulatory requirements. * Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other departments within CPCCo as needed. * Contribute to process development and improvement. Basic Qualifications * Career Level Grade 19: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or related technical degree with 8 or more years of relevant experience. * Senior Level Grade 20: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or related technical degree with 10 or more years of relevant experience. The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience. Desired Qualifications * Experience working with regulatory agencies. * Experience with RCRA and/or state equivalent permitting and compliance. * Experience reviewing permit requirements to recommend compliant approaches and address regulatory requirements. * Experience evaluating environmental requirements, developing compliant permits and preparing supporting documentation. * Knowledge of data collection and analytical requirements. * Experience writing reports that document regulatory compliance. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
