Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community, provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will supervise a team and direct the work of designers/engineers both directly and through subordinates. Monitors all work for compliance to project standards, applicable codes, contract requirements, quality standards, discipline standards, and accepted engineering and construction practices. Plans and schedules all discipline related deliverables in accordance with contract and internal schedule dates. Coordinate 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related discipline supervisors. Estimates staffing and schedule requirements for the discipline, monitors and controls actual performance during project execution. Supports annual performance reviews with discipline team to assess performance and identify development opportunities. This candidate should also have a good understanding of all work processes involved within the Plant Design discipline. #LI-SNH

Full-Time In Office: This position is a full-time role located in the Richland, Washington project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Administers and directs the work of designers/engineers both directly or through subordinates.

  • Monitors all work for compliance to project standards, applicable codes, contract requirements, quality standards, discipline standards, and accepted engineering and construction practices.

  • Plans and schedules all discipline related deliverables in accordance with contract and internal schedule dates.

  • Coordinates and reviews Piping & Valve specifications and material requisitions for all piping and pipe support commodities as applicable.

  • Coordinates 3D model activities, i.e. input, interference reconciliation, etc. with other physical related discipline supervisors.

  • Estimates staffing and schedule requirements for the discipline, monitors and controls actual performance during project execution.

  • Supports annual performance reviews with discipline team to assess performance and identify development opportunities.

  • Candidate should have a good understanding of all work processes involved within the Plant Design discipline.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Level 1: AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7-10 years of experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

  • Level 2: AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 10-12 years of experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with 3D modeling software packages.

  • Excellent oral & written communications skills.

  • Proven leadership & personnel skills.

  • Extensive knowledge & application of ASME B31.1 and/or B31.3 codes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

  • Hands-on use of Bentley PlantSpace Design Series or Open Plant Modeler for piping and or pipe support design.

  • Experience using pipe stress and support analysis programs ME101, ME150 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE a plus.

  • Familiar with Bechtel engineering procedures and administrative practices.

  • Familiar with Bechtel performance reporting tools.

  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
