WRPS, the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site, is the largest environmental cleanup organization in the world with numerous dynamic engineering teams coordinated between nuclear operations and other critical projects in hopes to serve the WRPS mission. The mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste dating back to the Manhattan Project and Cold War. You will gain the fundamental engineering knowledge critical to executing a complex multi-disciplined effort to cleanup radioactive and hazardous waste. The complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrating engineering organization. Engineering at WRPS consists of Process Engineering, Design Engineering, Nuclear Safety, Plant/System Engineering, Construction Project Engineering, Flowsheet Integration, Process and Control Systems, and the Chief Technology Office.

The Operation Specialist works in the Tank Farm Project and Chief Technology Office Organization, supporting the Tank Farms Projects (TFP) Engineering team and will work closely with project engineers, project managers and internal/external agencies. This position will work within the Tank Farm Projects Engineering group supporting a wide variety Field Installation, Testing, and Troubleshooting activities. The successful candidate will interface with other engineering groups to execute and implement upgrades as part of Tank Farm Projects, Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF) Project Engineering Organization.

The candidate will be working within a Project Engineering Team and should be interested in joining a high performing organization focused on project execution, worker safety and deploying innovative engineering solutions to handle Hanford's most challenging tasks.

Tasks include working with Project Engineers on all engineering aspects of their assigned projects to include performing field walk downs, interfacing with craft/field crews, and working with various internal and external design A&E and fabrication vendors.

The Operations Specialist will:

Work in an organizational team that encourages innovative solutions and technology development, streamlines equipment removal, installation, decontamination and disposal.

Understand the supporting role of engineering work assignments and to be self-directed.

Troubleshoot complex issues to support construction, commissioning and turnover

Complete projects on schedule and within budget

Work with Project Engineers to provide technical guidance to subcontractors in the execution of design

Required Qualifications

Grade 18:

Bachelors of Science (BS) in a Technical Field and

Eight (8) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Grade 19:

Bachelors of Science (BS) in a Technical Field and

Nine (9) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Grade 20:

Bachelors of Science (BS) in a Technical Field and

Ten (10) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications

Previous experience with installation, turnover and troubleshooting on electronics and instrumentation systems.

Previous experience working in a nuclear facility or nuclear project.

Compensation & Benefits

Grade 18:

Hiring Range Minimum: $104,175

Hiring Range Maximum: $131,425

Grade 19:

Hiring Range Minimum: $114,475

Hiring Range Maximum: $144,325

Grade 20:

Hiring Range Minimum: $126,025

Hiring Range Maximum: $158,875

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
