A Mechanical Designer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Richland, WA area. This role involves designing mechanical handling systems, creating 3D models and drawings using CAD software, coordinating with engineers and clients, and supporting equipment procurement, requiring expertise in mechanical design, CAD tools, and industry standards.

work hours: 8am to 5pm

responsibilities:

  • Meet with engineers to gather requirements for new or existing mechanical designs.

  • Create drawings and models using CAD software (Solidworks, Microstation, IGRIP).

  • Ensure designs adhere to company regulations and client standards.

  • Use company's Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) for CAD and CAE work.

  • Develop procurement packages, review vendor quotations, and handle technical evaluations.

  • Support technical issue resolution during mechanical equipment procurement.

  • Foster a work environment focused on communication, teamwork, trust, innovation, and satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Grade 25: BS in Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering + 3+ years of related experience.

  • Grade 26: Same as Grade 25, with over 3 years of experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in CAD (2D & 3D) and current engineering applications.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.

  • Knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Familiarity with preparing engineering budgets, schedules, and deliverables.

  • strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering-in-Training (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.

  • Experience in equipment design/analysis in DOE or commercial nuclear facilities.
