JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Social Worker functions as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team that provides supportive services to help meet patient, family, social, emotional and economic needs in relation to the patient’s diagnosis. The Medical Social Worker provides psychosocial support for patients, collaboratively working toward program objectives of achieving the best possible quality of life for patient and family.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.

Preferred/Optional: Master’s degree in social work.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Demonstrated proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred/Optional: Three years’ experience working as a Social Worker working with a target

population, community health setting or in a healthcare facility working with children and adults.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Current Social Worker license to practice without restriction in Wisconsin. Additional department-specific certifications, licenses, or memberships may be required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

Work Schedule

Flexible daytime hours; 4 to 5 days per week

Positions listed as 20 – 29 hours per week are offered the level 2 benefit package.
