Eaton Corporation Senior System Engineer in Reynosa, Mexico

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Senior System Engineer.

What you’ll do:

Primary Function:

The Senior Systems Engineer will organize and coordinate validation testing for PD&P products produced at the Reynosa plant. This engineer will need to work cross-functionally with PD&P engineering internationally, perform challenging assignments with minimal guidance, be accountable for the business impact of their decisions, and represent PD&P systems at Reynosa. This role is also responsible for performing sustaining engineering work, making updates to DFMEAs, performing cost-out projects, developing plant and customer solutions, scoping cost and timing for project and testing efforts, and managing verification and validation efforts.

Essential Functions:

•Provide knowledge in hybrid and electric vehicle systems, and work with customers to provide innovative and valuable system, subsystem, and component level solutions to their vehicle challenges.

•Develop, negotiate, and manage verification & validation requirements based on OEM and Eaton design team input

•Possess proficiency with vehicle-performance tests, have skills/knowledge in application & integration engineering, and are capable of analyzing data to assess the best customer-oriented solution and compliance to requirements

•Lead CVP&R, DVP&R, and PVP&R development and test activities at the component, subsystem, system, and vehicle levels. Summarize data and create reports to drive engineering decisions.

•Conduct validation kick-off meetings, coordinating amongst all internal laboratory disciplines, document and manage action items to achieve validation readiness.

•Ensure engineering teams awareness of all applicable test standards and procedures. Document any deviations from established validation requirement, communicating risk to management and coordinating approval.

•Support technical and budgetary responses on assigned projects. Negotiate and document validation test plan requirements for projects with support from Engineering & Reliability experts, ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.

•Coordinate outsourced testing as needed, obtaining quotes and coordinating issuance of purchase orders. Identify, manage and document issues that arise in preparation for and during testing. Process laboratory requests from engineering teams, develop initial validation project plans and work closely with lab scheduler and test operators and engineers to maintain committed timing and achieve customer validation milestones

•Communicate status of validation activities to all internal stakeholders and ensures any required reports are written and approved on time and in compliance with laboratory and customer requirements.

•Manage inventory, storage and shipments of validation samples and supporting test equipment with support from internal laboratory disciplines.

•Conduct advance capability/workload planning efforts for the product line, communicating results to management and impacted laboratory disciplines.

•Relentlessly improve technical and interpersonal skills, and have a passion for successful development of products that change how power is managed in electric vehicle.

•Engage with mechanical, electrical and software designers in making product changes based on test results and understanding of the industry/requirements

•Work with PD&P engineers and plant personnel on current product projects assigned to the Reynosa PD&P team.This may include product updates, product validation testing, updates to DFMEAS, cost reduction activities, prototype build data collection, or other current product work.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in new product development of automotive, transportation-based, or similar products

• Minimum one (1) year of automotive or transportation-based electronics product validation experience

• Master’s degree in relevant engineering field

• Two years of experience at an automotive tier 1 or tier 2 supplier

• Strong communication skills with ability to interface directly with external partners, suppliers, and both internal and external customers.

• Experience validating high voltage automotive power distribution or power electronics products

• Experience validating products with die castings, stampings, injection molded plastics, and PCB assemblies

• Experience validating products with ISO 26262 functional safety requirement, certification preferred

• Advanced understanding of electric vehicle drivetrain/powertrain systems and battery packs

• Hands-on vehicle-based skills & experience (Mechanical and/or electrical)

• Experience with IBM Jazz Tools

• Experience with Agile Development Processes

• VBA/advanced MS Excel, MS Project and Visio experience
