Job Description Summary

The Buyer is responsible to schedule and monitor the materials movement through the production cycle to determine the materials and/or services required. Purchase materials, using MRP to maintain inventory at planned levels. Periodically prepares, calculates and reports raw material PPV to Management on timely manner. Monitors as needed supplier return authorization for timely disposition of discrepant material and utilizes the Electronic Documentation System to review product and component documentation.

Job Description

The regular activities are:

  • Provide schedules and purchase orders to supplier, according to the agreed method, prices and LT based on each individual supplier, material and demand behavior.

  • Review and response to MRP messages.

  • Prepare, calculate and report raw material PPV to Management.

  • Monitor dispositions and execution of non-conforming material as needs.

  • Use Electronic Documentation System to review approved supplies and specifications.

  • Attend MRB meetings once a week and provide status as required.

  • Work with Sr. Buyer to submit programs or methods to excess or inventory reductions.

  • Participate in supply chain process improvements.

  • Supports customs with NAFTA programs.

  • Supports Import & Export with Certificate of Origin.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

  • Ensure material, on timely delivery controlling indirect cost such as freight and OT.

  • Works directly with production planner to review and respond to production needs.

  • Defines and maintain MRP planning parameters for its correct performance as required at a minimum once a quarter.

  • Analyze, investigate, and troubleshoot MRP system outcome before executing messages.

The periodic activities are:

  • Prepare RTV in less than 15 days.

  • Runs and analyses inventory reports on monthly bases and provides inventory reduction goals.

  • Participate in cost improvement projects (3 projects at minimum).

  • Responsible for reviewing discrepant invoiced and follow up with corrective actions to eliminate future delays.

The eventual activities are:

  • Cover desk in case of vacations for a team member.

  • Participate on physical inventory.

Requirements:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Knowledge and Training:

  • Computer skills.

  • Highly preferred: APICS or ISM courses, minimum of three courses.

  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP system required.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing procurement.

  • Skills:

  • Discipline, organization, self-driven, determination and fully committed.

  • Possess execution discipline.

  • Decision making.

  • Able to solve problems.

  • Analytics skills.
