Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Reston, Virginia

We are recruiting a Software Engineer II to join the East coast Storage Table team, the group responsible for the layer which provides the data model for the different types of objects stored, the logic and semantics to process the different types of objects, the massively scalable namespace for the objects, the load balancing to access objects across the available partition servers, and the transaction ordering and strong consistency for access to those objects. This employee will collaborate across Azure engineering teams in multiple geographic locations to create new features, enhance existing ones, and help drive production incidents to swift resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design,implementation,and executionofa variety ofStoragefeatures.

  • Ensuresoftwarechanges improve quality, performance, and reliabilityof the system.

  • Participate in code reviews for other team members.

  • Participate in On Call rotations to support live site and drive engineered solutions to improve customer experiences.

  • Learn with the team and adopt relevant new technologies, tools,methods,and processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ yearsofprofessional software developmentexperience.

  • B.S.in Computer Science or Engineeringor equivalent industry experience; higher degrees are welcomed.

  • Passionate about writing code andproficiency inC#, C++, Java, or otherobject-oriented programminglanguages.

  • Demonstrated problem solving, coding, and debugging skills.

  • DevOps experience working withgitand systems like GitHub, Azure DevOps,orGitLab.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)anda desire to collaborateacross teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed systems and services in the cloud.

  • Expertise inmulti-threaded/parallel programming.

  • Proven ability troubleshooting complex technical issues for running online services in remote datacenters.

  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages.

  • A strong background in data structures, algorithms, and analysis of algorithm complexity.

  • Experienceplanning,scheduling,and deliveringquality software.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with full scope polygraph) clearance.
