Site Reliability Engineer Interns at Microsoft will have the opportunity to accelerate your career growth, develop deep business acumen, hone your selling skills, and become adept at deal structuring.

As a Site Reliability Engineering Intern, you will provide leadership, direction, and accountability for cloud design, service architecture, engineering infrastructure, and data platform development. You will help conduct business reviews and operate production services to ensure that services and systems are highly stable, performant, and meeting the expectations of internal and external customers. Responsibilities

  • Develops platforms and frameworks that can be used to host various types of services or automate processes for large scale initiatives.

  • Evaluates and contributes to product & service design.

  • Contributes to shaping Site Reliability Engineering strategies, reviews specifications and design, and improves upon core processes.

  • Works closely with product engineering teams to define and implement improvements to service monitoring and reporting to enhance reliability and capability.

  • Solves problems in mission critical services and creates solutions to prevent problem recurrence and work to automate responses to non-exceptional service conditions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field

  • Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the internship

  • One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language

Other Requirements

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.

  • Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance

The base pay range for this internship is USD $5,460 - $10,680 per month. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $7,040 - $11,640 per month.
