AIG Email Security Engineer, Assistant Vice President in Reston, Virginia

AIG is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Email Security Engineer to join AIG’s security engineering team. A successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of email security protocols, advanced threat protection, and email encryption technologies. Candidates must possess hands-on experience with email security solutions, such as Secure Email Gateways (SEGs), Domain Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC), DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), and Sender Policy Framework (SPF). Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and mitigate sophisticated email-based threats are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, be able to effectively communicate to all levels within AIG, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

The role will contribute to multiple aspects of AIG’s email security program, helping establish foundational controls across the environment. They will monitoring the day-to-day Email security posture of our organization; research, engineer, and integrate new security solutions with an emphasis on email security, certificate management, data loss prevention, and email encryption; and apply security architecture principles to meet the organization’s confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Transform business requirements into technical specifications, especially as it pertains to new technologies, corporate divestitures, and corporate acquisitions requiring email based solutions integrations

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain email security solutions including DMARC, SEGs, encryption, and application email

  • Identify, design, and implement automated solutions to enable security needs and validate current and future-state architectural models to assess impact across all Cybersecurity technology systems

  • Establish processes, procedures, and security solutions based on AIG’s policies as required to demonstrate compliance

  • Create and maintain data security documentation, policies, and procedures

  • Support Incident Response Teams with cyber incident triage, including responding to alerts, determining scope, urgency, and potential impact, identifying the specific vulnerability, and making recommendations that enable rapid remediation of issues or risks

  • Partner with the operations teams to analyze logs, identify, recommend, and improve current logging requirements to ensure email activity is properly logging and alerting within the SIEM

  • Provide technical engineering services for the support of integrated email security systems and solutions

  • Responsible for guiding the design and implementation of secure email solutions and services across business and IT support areas

  • Lead special projects or investigations into specific email security technology or solution issues and shepherd research and piloting of new email security technologies

  • Responsible for reviewing the compliance and performance of email security technologies and optimizing them for efficiency, effectiveness, and enhanced security

  • Support security posture assessments and risk analysis efforts, and efforts to identify email security and engineering problems and provide solutions

  • Contribute to cost-effective efforts to improve email security and configuration

  • Support standards-compliance in secure system development, support, assessment, remediation, and configuration/change management

  • Manage communications with internal/external customers and engage with other internal and external parties to get and share information to improve processes and security posture

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science Engineering or Computer related disciplines

  • Minimum 8-10 or more years of insurance or financial services experience

  • Proven experience in: (1) Microsoft Office 365, including configuration of tenant wide policies, (2) ATP products, Intune, authentication and identity management, and DLP (3) implementing SPF/DKIM/DMARC, (4) integrating email security logs with corporate SIEM solutions

  • Demonstrated familiarity managing Microsoft security and compliance center (Purview)

  • Hands-on experience managing anti-SPAM, auditing, eDiscovery, and email DLP rules and policies, including troubleshooting and tuning, and utilizing email security gateways and security solutions

  • Proficient knowledge of mail flow from gateway to delivery and experience with phishing incident response

  • Proficient knowledge of email encryption including Transport Layer Security

  • Ability to work successfully both independently and with other teams in a fast-paced environment, balancing priorities

  • Demonstrating an always learning philosophy and openness to learning new technologies

  • Have excellent written and verbal communications skills
