IBM Cable Network Architect in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

Your Role and Responsibilities

Candidate must have deep experience in one or more of the following domains: Transport, IP Core, DOCSIS, CMTS, Packet Cable, HFC, xPON, Packet Core, SDN, NFV, RAN, O-RAN, MVNO, EDGE or OSS. Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as CABLELABS, DOCSIS, 3GPP, TMF or ETSI is needed. Preferably the candidate has been in a pre-sales technical role developing network-related solutions and services to Cable and Media network engineering and network operations organizations.

The candidates should be able to demonstrate proven relationships with CXOs including CTO's and Network Engineering/Operations organizations at one or more Cable and Media companies. Experience in transformation, Consulting and Services Sales in the Cable/Media /Communication Service Provider Network domain is a key requirement.

As a network architect, responsibilities include solution and offering architecture development as part of the IBM network cloud domain portfolio team which includes hybrid cloud, Red Hat, IBM's portfolio of hybrid cloud software, Consulting, Implementation services and eco-system of third party VNF/CNF vendors focused on Cable and Media networks.

This person will work with multiple teams within IBM. The person will:

  • Support Account Teams in sales pursuits

  • Collaborate with RedHat, Hybrid Cloud and GTS (newco in future) on developing network cloud solutions for clients

  • Interface with the network cloud offer team to understand IBM's network cloud portfolio of services

  • Collaborate with other TME BU and CoC team members in sales pursuits, knowledge sharing and developing thought leadership

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Must have skills:

  • Deep knowledge of one or more network domains including Transport, IP Core, DOCSIS, CMTS, CDN, Packet Cable, HFC, xPON, Packet Core, SDN, NFV, RAN, O-RAN, MVNO, EDGE or OSS, orchestration, and assurance

  • Familiar with relevant industry standards such as CABLELABS, DOCSIS, CMTS, TMF eTOM, ETSI or 3GPP

  • 5+ years of experience working for a Cable/Media Network Architecture, Network Solution or Cable/ISP Network Equipment Provider (e.g., Harmonic, Casa, Cisco, Motorola, Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Huawei etc. ), network services provider (e.g., Altran, WWT) or within the network department of a Cable or Media company

  • 5+ years of experience working with CMTS/Cable/OSS domains such as fault management, CDN, performance management, inventory management, order management, trouble ticketing, provisioning, activation and workforce management

The individual must be aware of industry trends within network engineering community. What technologies are being developed or launched? What new vendors are appearing in the market? What is the value proposition of the new vendors?

Cable or Media Industry experience is 100% mandatory. We require either:

  • 5+ years experience of working for a Network Equipment Provider (Harmonic, Casa, Cisco, Motorola, CableLabs, Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Huawei) as an OSS Architect, or

  • 5+ years experience of working for a network services provider (e.g., Altran, WWT)

  • 5+ years of experience working in a Cable/Media Network Architecture , Network Solution or NOC for a tier 1 Cable or Media company or with OSS platforms in some related capacity

  • 5+ years experience in CABLELABS, DOCSIS

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Industry certifications such as CABLELABS, TMForum certification in eTOM or ETSI certification in ETSI NFV architecture

  • Background in network engineering

  • 5+ years of experience working in designing Virtual CMTS or NOC for a tier 1 Cable or Media company
