Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Sr. HR Manager, the Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including recruiting and interviewing, employee relation investigations. In addition, this role will work very closely with Managers and Supervisors in ensuring all employees, contractors and vendors are working and behaving in the safest way possible.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Conducts or acquires employee eligibility verifications.

  • Conducts Employee Orientation for regular and temporary personnel.

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation and benefits.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Attends and assists the Sr. HR Manager in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Dedicate time on the production floor engaging (communicating, influencing, collaborating) with employees, supervisors, and management.

  • Investigates accidents or incidents to discover root cause.

  • Report injury/incidents to leadership team

  • Lead Safety Committees; serve on the Emergency Response Team

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration a plus.

  • At least two years of human resource generalist experience preferred.

  • SHRM-CP a plus.
