Your role at Clorox:
Starting Pay: $33.46
The Environmental and Sustainability Specialist is responsible for organizing, administering, and maintaining the plant’s environmental and sustainability programs and systems to ensure regulatory and company compliance. The ESS reports directly to the plant Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The specific job duties include preparing environmental reports, managing file systems, training, assist with agency inspections and interactions, and effectively communicate environmental performance to plant personnel. Position supports the plant’s culture through active participation in processes to effect improvements in the areas of People, Safety, Quality, Customer Delight, Cost, New Products and Processes.
In this role, you will:
Prepare reports to environmental agencies including but not limited to:
Water discharge monitoring
Bi-annual city sewage report
Tier II emergency and hazardous chemical inventory
Toxic release inventory
Compliance Status
Annual emissions inventory
SPCC Monthly Checks
Hazardous and non-hazardous waste check
Manage plant’s environmental records and file system to ensure documents are easily accessed and up to date
Develop internal employee engagement activities related to social impact of plants environmental and sustainability efforts
Coordinate and create programs related to environmental and sustainability impact related to zero waste corporate initiatives in cooperation with plant manager and plant engineer
Serve as key contact for government agency visits and prepare governmental inspection reports
Lead and organize environmental training of plant personnel
Collaborates with and serves as liaison between corporate and site leadership on environmental matters concerning the plant
Work to maintain small quantity generator status and support minimization of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
Participate in environmental audits conducted at the plant through corporate and coordinate/follow-up on findings
Manage and provides input to plant leadership on priorities and projects, also provides recommendation on best practice
Research and review regulatory, technical, or market issues related to sustainability
Develop templates for evaluating opportunities and a metric of active projects related to environmental and sustainability efforts
Ability to complete daily, weekly, quarterly, etc., tasks related to environmental and sustainability efforts
What we look for:
A minimum of a 2 year degree in Environmental, Safety or Technical related field or equivalent in experience and/or training
A minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience
A minimum of 3-5 years in an environmental and/or sustainability role with a track record of achieving positive results

The ESS will be able to demonstrate:
Organization and capable of completing tasks within deadlines provided
Demonstrate an attention to detail, thoroughness and handle multiple tasks concurrently
Demonstrate the willingness to interface with internal and external resources to verify requirements prior to projects, programs, or implementation measures
Demonstrate strong knowledge of MS-Excel to analyze data along with ability to utilize other Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc..
Capable of interacting with all levels of the workforce to include laterally and vertically in a courteous and professional manner (including external resources)
Demonstrate the ability to provide clear and concise directions, communications (both written and verbal) in order to provide information, observations, and conclusions that may require actions by various individuals or groups
Demonstrate strong leadership skills, self-motivation, and be a self-starter with minimal supervision.
