Land Analyst

Position Summary

This position maintains accurate lease payment schedules and ensures their timely payment and renewal and is responsible for maintaining the land holdings database. This position prepares geothermal lease nominations in collaboration with Ormat’s Resource Group; obtains preliminary title policy, title insurance policies, copies of deeds, and other recorded documents; and prepares virtual data rooms for land deals.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain lease schedules and records and ensure timely lease payments and annual reporting requirements.

  • Process land payments and purchase orders in SAP.

  • File for lease renewals and assure lease conditions are met.

  • Work with various public and governmental agencies in filing, acquiring, and processing various land-related permits, applications, licenses, grants, and records. Prepare land department correspondence/memorandum and supporting documents for submittal to agencies.

  • Contact and maintain relationships with landowners and lessors. Assist with assignments, estate transfers and maintenance of leases.

  • Organize, and maintain land department records. Compile data into spreadsheets and various reports.

  • In coordination with resource group, identify lease acquisition, prepare lease nominations, and present land information at prospect pipeline meetings and semiannual lease review meetings.

  • Coordinate and provide support to various departments for property ownership, lease status, financing, and permitting.

  • Create and edit maps electronically using Geographic Information Systems.

  • Compile annual lease and rental budget.

  • Research, examine and assess fee and mineral ownership in county grantor/grantee records, tract indices, tax assessor records, clerk and recorder records, and records owned and held by the title company(s).

  • Review preliminary title for accuracy and issues relating to the ability of the company to enter into leases and/or land purchases.

  • Ensure land documents and legal instruments are in proper form and duly executed, filed, and recorded in/with respective agencies.

  • Assist in acquisition of leases, rights of ways, land purchases and lending finance matters.

Other Responsibilities

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Must have working understanding of real estate, land and legal documents and instruments.

  • Must have strong organizational skills and be able to work independently.

  • Experience with legal descriptions, understanding survey procedures, measurements and survey documents.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.

  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and GIS software. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and use of the Internet.

  • Overnight travel may be required in performance of the duties assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to work in an office environment.

  • This position requires sitting 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time.
