BECU Public Relations Manager in Remote, Washington

PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $100,900.00-$123,200.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $78,400.00 - $145,800.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE

As the Public Relations Manager at BECU, you will be instrumental in shaping and enhancing our image and reputation. Your strategic efforts in media relations, content partnerships and strategic communications will amplify BECU’s brand and member value. By driving public relations initiatives and managing external communications, you will help BECU connect with our members and communities in meaningful ways. Your work will ensure that our messages are clear, impactful and aligned with our values, while fostering positive relationships and strengthening our presence.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Develop PR Strategy: Partner with the Director of External Communications to create and implement public relations strategies that elevate BECU’s brand, enhance member value and boost community engagement.

Monitor and Adapt: Keep an eye on news trends, prepare messaging, research media opportunities and develop editorial recommendations to align with communication goals.

Engage and Counsel: Cultivate strong connections with leaders and subject matter experts to effectively support and advise them on their communication needs.

Be the Voice: Serve as a spokesperson for BECU when needed and identify internal experts to represent the organization.

Media Train: Work with the Director of External Communications to manage and implement a media training program for internal spokespeople.

Create Media Network: Build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, producers and industry analysts.

Drive Awareness: Identify speaking and award opportunities that align with communication goals and develop content partnerships to increase BECU’s visibility.

Editorial Coordination: Partner for editorial scheduling, meeting coordination and communication with stakeholders, including third-party partners and agencies.

Track and Analyze: Use media databases to create target media lists, track media coverage and draft coverage summaries. Develop metrics and analytics to evaluate the success of PR campaigns.

Content Development: Develop press releases and materials for PR campaigns, manage the BECU newsroom and ensure timely publication of content.

Contribute Flexibly: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work or education-related experience required.

Minimum 5 years of communications or public relations experience required.

Project management skills with a strong service focus and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables.

Experience in managing public relations programs, including building relationships with reporters and writers, and driving brand awareness and media coverage.

Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess media coverage, track PR campaign performance, and provide actionable insights that drive strategic improvements and enhance BECU’s public relations efforts.

Desired Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Marketing or Communications preferred
