What’s the job?
The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for managing the Retail Territory Representatives, supporting, and coordinating sales efforts with national building products retailers.- The main functions of this role will be leading the Retail Territory Representative Team to drive company sales and merchandising strategy across Retailers.- Key objectives are to achieve sales goals, ensure correct store product and sales collateral and merchandising sets, conduct store associate product and system selling training as required and foster strong working relationships with store personnel to promote sales and increase CertainTeed brand awareness.- In addition, this role will be responsible for executing defined marketing and sales promotional initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand product representation in assigned stores and driving CertainTeed branded category penetration.- This is a key potential growth position offering a great opportunity to learn many aspects of the building material business.

Lead, manage and direct the support activities of the Retail field team.
Ensure Field Team is conducting required number store visits per day depending upon territory size/geography, covering a multi-state region focused on big box home improvement retailers with a concentration of stores.
Organize effective product presentations to include retail associate training in product selling skills, installation, and technical information.
Foster relationship development and management at each store location with various store managers, departments and associates as required.
Lead Team’s active engagement and relationship building with Pro Desks / Contractor Sales Teams / Outside Sales Teams
Engage with other Business Unit team members and leaders as needed.
Ensure Team participation in store contractor events / luncheons and communicate other BU support as needed.
Manage in-store service activities to support Company strategic direction and plan.
Promote and support usage of CRM to track and report sales call activity, comp shop data and competitive POG set data
Lead and support retailer POS data usage as part of management and opportunity creation.
Ability to build scalable Retail Field Team as warranted, increasing diversity and bi-lingual (Spanish) ability across the team.
Promote and foster One CertainTeed approach and strategy across Retailers via current, new products or categories.
Support potential opportunity creation to expand product offering both in-store, on-shelf and on-line.
Working with the Field Retail Team, support product launches, new sets, and rollouts
Achieve sales goals and provide outstanding customer service.
While position reports to Director – Retail Sales, position works in coordination & collaboration with National Accounts Managers – Retail across respective accounts.
Execute strategy deployment, marketing and sales promotional initiatives as defined by the Business Unit, Retail Department.
What do you bring?
Bachelors’ degree or equivalent 7-10 years work experience required; High School Diploma/GED if equivalent work experience in place of College Degree.
7-10+ years’ experience leading a retail field-based team or equivalent experience required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Building materials and/or retail sales experience a plus.
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration and sales techniques.
Candidates must have an interest in promoting and demonstrating building materials.
Strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability multi-task and work on several projects at a time.
Demonstrate strong customer service skills with a positive attitude and excellent relationship-building skills.
This position requires a self-starting, highly motivated, individual who works well in a team environment.-
Participates in Sales Team meetings and calls
Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management
Requires adaptability and methodical/analytical problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented and deadline sensitive
Results-driven team player with good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $108,100 to $172,900 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
- In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $124,300 to $198,800. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
