Summary:

The Incident Support Team (IST) Reservist plays a crucial role in emergency incident deployment operations within the Incident Command System (ICS) structure:

  • Incident Command Post (ICP) Support: Assisting ICP staff with administrative and data entry tasks.
  • Facilities Unit Support: Supporting Facilities Unit Leader with facility management tasks.
  • Supply Unit Support: Aiding Supply Unit Leader in inventory management and resource distribution.
  • Operational Support: Assisting Operations Section Chief or Shelter Management with operational tasks.
  • Logistical Support: Supporting Logistics Section Chief with transportation and warehouse operations.
  • Other Incident Assignments: Performing duties as designated by Incident Commander or Section Chiefs.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Candidates without a Bachelor's Degree may substitute one year of relevant work experience for each year of required education.
  • Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) training, including FEMA courses: IS-100.c, IS-200.b, IS-700.b, IS-800.c.
  • Proof of course completion for each required FEMA course is mandatory for consideration.
  • Experience working for a government agency in a first responder capacity (Fire-Rescue, EMS, Law Enforcement, Public Health, Emergency Management) or recent college graduate in related fields.
  • Must maintain readiness to deploy within 12 hours of activation.
  • Must maintain physical and mental health suitable for emergency settings under tight deadlines.
  • Must work in high-pressure environments in varied remote or austere locations for 14-21 consecutive days.
  • Capable of extended 12-hour shifts, including after-hours.
  • Strong memory for detail, leadership qualities, and sound judgment.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team with limited supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in diverse formats.
  • Professional interpersonal skills including effective listening and non-verbal communication.
  • Adherence to business ethics, integrity, and compliance with all regulations.
  • Must pass appropriate criminal background checks.
