Position Description

Fujitsu is seeking a Support Engineer IV to be responsible for the deployment and implementation of new optical transport network and data network builds and network augments, across multiple OEM vendor platforms. Our Support Engineer IV will be considered a subject matter expert and will support onsite and remote implementation and commissioning of new optical transport and data networks as well as augmenting existing networks. Our Network Engineering and Integration team is responsible for designing, building, and operating global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance.

Job duties include:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical product documentation, product change notifications, technical bulletins and other technical publications.

  • Follow method of procures to perform network equipment provisioning, commissioning and testing

  • Create device specific configuration scripts for network activation, testing scripts and applying to network devices

  • Perform and lead field teams in network acceptance testing, end to end testing, BERT testing and testing of applicable network protocols as needed per network design.

  • Using optical test sets, scopes, cleaves, Fluke, etc.

  • Installation of fiber optic jumpers, optics and equipment cards

  • Communicate with internal and external customers, as well as assist other technicians with troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.

  • Communicate with internal and external customers to solve complex network issues.

  • Maintain and follow documented procedures and processes for upgrading, implementing, and removing facilities within a transport network.

  • Perform maintenance window work for network augmentations and migrations on high risk deployments.

  • Provides system integration and support to various teams and customers to integrate with other network applications and systems.

  • Colloborate with team members to drive process improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience with a deep understanding of SONET, OTN, and DWDM Networks.

  • Fundamental understanding of all protocols provisioned (8031, 8032, SONET, MPLS, EVPL, and others)

  • Familiarity with the Optical layer (including Transponders, and extensive optical networks) and the IP layer (encompassing TCP/IP, IPv6, along with one or more routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, ISIS, or equivalents).

  • Expertise with provisioning and commissioning of the following vendor equipment:

  • Fujitsu (1finity, 9500,7420, 7120, 4500, 4100)

  • Infinera (DTNX, DTC,ATC, MTC, TNX)

  • Ciena (6500, 5200, 4200, 3500, CPL)

  • Ciena (Z77,Z33,Z22)

  • Cisco (15600,15454,15310)

  • Nokia 1830

  • Ekinops

  • Familiarity with the following systems preferable:

  • Netsmart 1500

  • Netcool

  • Strong interpersonal skills to support management, negotiation, and problem-solving functions of this role.

  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines in high pressure scenarios.

  • Must be able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 65lbs and climb and work while on a ladder up to 8’.

  • Self-motivated, excellent communication and written skills

  • Knowledge on optical transportation, OTN solution, system design, architecture, service delivery and operation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a closely related technical field, or a comparable amount of hands-on experience.

Fujitsu salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. ​ It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each situation. The pay range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: specific skills, qualifications, experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. The pay range for this position is estimated at $83,790.00 to $134,064.00 USD. Additionally, this role may be eligible for a short-term incentive based on company results and individual performance.
