Position : Sr. Highway Project Manager

Location : Remote, TN

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Knoxville, TN team! Come join us!

The successful candidate will act as the "Project Manager" to deliver traditional roadway and intersection type projects.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in reviewing existing project budgets and update the budgets throughout the project.

  • Perform planning activities associated with each project, including, but not limited to, coordination with staff to gain a thorough understanding of the project requirements and expectations.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules until completion of each project.

  • Manage project team kick-off meetings with all appropriate team members and the selected stakeholders. Ensure the designer understands the project expectations prior to starting design.

  • Manage regular team meetings and ensure proper documentation. Formal meetings will be held at preliminary design, design development, and construction document milestones. Additional meetings will be held between milestone meetings as needed to ensure proper completion of the design.

  • Bidding Assistance and Analysis – When the designer has obtained all applicable permit approvals, we will submit the appropriate documents to the purchasing unit for review and approval if desired. During the advertisement and bidding phase, PM will work with the design consultant and the purchasing unit as follows:

  • Review the final construction cost estimate based on the plans and final estimate.

  • Attend the pre-bid conference and describe the project's scope to attendees.

  • Ensure that all questions from bidders are correctly answered and accurate addenda are issued as needed.

  • Prepare a bid tabulation and distribute. Review all bids and check references.

  • Make recommendations for awards.

Minimum requirements:

  • No less than 10 years of highway transportation infrastructure as a project manager/engineer, preferred experience with TDOT.

  • PMP Certification preferred

  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.

Technical requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of project management responsibilities, acceptable design practices, and working in a system to deliver a project.

  • Thorough knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric calculations related to highway/transportation engineering.

  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and all other documents associated with the project.

  • Adept at problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to work well with others as a team focused on providing accurate and timely technical services.
