The Hartford Software Engineer (Remote) in Remote, Tennessee

In this role you will act as the primary contributor to the code in the environment. You will follow the design layout of a Sr. Developer and Tech Lead. You will work independently requiring little direction. You will be responsible for interpreting the business requirements and implementing them in an efficient manner. You would be responsible for delivering high quality code and mentoring other Jr team members. Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of code components, modules and business solutions.

  • Design and develop cloud based solutions in AWS that are scalable, highly available, and easily maintainable.

  • Collaborate with fellow developers to design, develop, implement and support complex business solutions.

  • Interpret business requirements into low level technical design.

  • Estimate individual work effort for delivery of tasks.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, various stakeholders.

  • Create, document and execute automated unit and integration testing.

  • Mentor other team jr team members.

    Qualifications:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related disciple with a minimum of 4+ years developing web based Java/J2EE applications, RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • 1+ years of experience working with AWS.

  • Strong understanding of OOPS concepts and design patterns.

  • Hands-on experience working with AWS core services and deploying cloud based solutions.

  • Should be familiar with cloud computing concepts and have hands-on experience in AWS services (such as S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS)

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communications, and interpersonal skills.

    Technical Skills used in Role in Order of Importance:

  • OOP, SOA, and design pattern concepts related to Rest API development, microservices, system processing, batch processing.

  • Strong development experience leveraging Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, ORM, JPA, Spring Batch.

  • Hands on experience with AWS - S3, RDS, Lambda, APIGateway, ECS, SNS, SQS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, IAM, KMS

  • Relational databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL

    Nice to have:

  • Setup, configure, maintain, and enhance proper infrastructure to support Node.js / Typescript based Micro Services

  • TDD/BDD testing framework
