GE Aerospace Sourcing Strategy Leader in Remote, North Carolina

Job Description Summary

As a Sourcing Strategy Leader, you will own creating and implementing strategies responsive to the external environment and internal business goals. This includes reshaping or disrupting the existing market and creation of new markets through partnerships, joint ventures (JVs), business development (BD) team activity on mergers & acquisitions (M&A). You will lead the translation of commercial strategies to drive meaningful outcomes through linkages to the larger business strategy, commodity strategies, deal guidelines, and implementation of the strategy. Specifically, you will translate overall strategic Sourcing goals (e.g. new technologies / new capabilities / different geographic exposure) to commodity-level targets.

You will also be responsible for ensuring commodity strategies are developed to a high standard. You will set the standard / template for commodity strategies, define the process for Commodity strategy development, and coach commodity strategy teams. You will also be the Sourcing leader for market data / reports, and be responsible for ensuring commodity strategy teams are aware of the resources available and know how to use them.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner with sourcing leadership to develop 5 + year strategy road map for the sourcing organization

  • Work cross-functionally across the organization to define Sourcing goals and tactics to achieve them (e.g. new supplier development, new technology / capability development, new product introductions, M&A, expansion to new geographic regions, offsets, design for cost, etc.)

  • Translate overall Sourcing goals to commodity-level targets (all except cost, which is owned by finance)

  • Own Sourcing factbase and source of truth in the development & maintenance of:

  • Own supplier and market intelligence resources

  • Partner with Commodities on ways to use data resources to inform decision making

  • Monitor macro trends and define strategy for Sourcing to address them

  • Maintain set of realistic Sourcing cost targets, based on market conditions

  • Partner with commodities to develop high-quality, standardized category strategies:

  • Define standard expectations for commodity strategy, including tier 2+ considerations (i.e. implication of strategy for suppliers of your suppliers etc.) for relevant commodities

  • Work with commodities to deploy standard expectations, including a repeatable strategy development process (e.g. who needs to provide input and when)

  • Refresh commodity strategies based on significant events or standard refresh cycle

  • Integrate top-down budget process with bottom-up commodity strategy POV

  • Ensure connections between strategies and downstream processes within Sourcing (e.g. RFQ outcomes driven by strategy)

  • Make vs. Buy:

  • Lead Sourcing input into Make vs. Buy decisions

  • Work with Supply Chain stakeholders to update standard work to create truly integrated commodity strategy encompassing both make (internal shops) and buy

  • Develop answers to other Sourcing-wide strategic questions, as needed (e.g. how to reduce reliance on China)

  • Define contract archetypes for most common structures, set common terms for each, and ensure connection to strategy

  • Support communication of Sourcing strategies to senior leadership (i.e. prepare SALT decks, coach Commodity teams on presentations)

  • Develop technical and market expertise in key areas across the sourcing organization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (Engineering or supply chain is preferred)

  • 5+ years strategy experience : Proven track record of defining answers to complex, strategic questions and communicating outputs to senior stakeholders

  • At least 2 years in people / team management

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time (International travel may be required)

Desired Characteristics

  • Executive level communication: Ability to clearly communicate complex issues, and tailor the message to different stakeholders (e.g. C-suite vs. CPMs)

  • Stakeholder engagement: Proven experience managing cross-functional relationships with Sourcing's stakeholders (e.g., able to navigate complex trade-offs to optimize cost, quality, and delivery)

  • Process governance: Ability to develop and oversee standard work for category strategy development and communication across the organization

  • Analytical ability: Experience working with multiple data sources to tease out key insights / implications

  • Sourcing literacy: Understanding of core sourcing concepts (e.g. supplier relationship management, supplier development, RFQs)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English

  • Understanding of core sourcing concepts (e.g. RFQs)

  • Ability to develop key relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Strong track-record of developing and communicating answers to strategic questions

  • Ability to identify develop new suppliers

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills as a change agent with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Proven process improvement ability

  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills

The base pay range for this position is 150,000.00 - 175,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on November 11 , 2 024 .
