Allegion Senior IT Software Engineer in Remote, Indiana

The IT Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for learning the code base of multiple teams, being familiar with the business requirements and processes the applications support, and ensuring that technical solutions align to Allegion standards . This role requires a problem-solver with a strong technical background, capable of diving deep into complex systems to troubleshoot, optimize, and resolve issues. Because of the close interaction with business customers and supporting IT teams, the Senior Software Engineer will require a deep understanding of requirements analysis, project planning and testing support.

What you will do:

  • Work with Customer Success and Program Management to diagnose, prioritize, debug, and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 issues across multiple critical applications

  • Support innovation through creative application of software architecture, design and development

  • Analyze existing business processes and application code and be able to jump in where needed the most

  • Develop specified application components or enhancements, as needed

  • Develop and maintain documentation for software troubleshooting and problem resolution

  • Mentor junior engineers and lead by example

  • Deliver technical solutions for projects leveraging agile project management methodologies

  • Work with the IT team, business functions, external vendors, and contract resources to deliver project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Help to clarify, identify, and track requirements and project issues and escalate to immediate manager where required

  • Advocate for common libraries and socialize opportunities to align teams where applicable

What you need to succeed:

  • 5 plus years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of enterprise applications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology related discipline preferred

  • Excel at using root cause analysis to diagnose issues across domains

  • Passion for technology and willingness to explore and adopt emerging technologies for practical business purposes

  • Bring an upbeat, positive attitude while enjoying working with an agile team to develop innovative technical solutions to help enable business growth and improve customer satisfaction

  • Experience developing solutions in an object-oriented programming language (e.g. Angular, Java, C#, HTML)

  • Experience using modern web languages and frameworks, especially Entity Framework, Angular Framework, ASP.NET and JavaScript frameworks

  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, with various team members in roles that are both technical and non-technical particularly to give direction to other team members or present business value of various initiatives to leadership

  • Demonstrated experience modeling the innovation behaviors of questioning, observing, experimenting, networking, and associating

  • Be self-motivated with good time management skills

  • Proactively work to coordinate efforts with employees at all levels including internal business partners, other technology teams, external suppliers/consultants, service providers, etc.

  • Understand the cloud computing paradigm using services such as Azure or AWS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment while providing consistent application lifecycle management

  • Limited travel is required
