As the MR Commercial Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading operational activities for the MR business to provide support and insights to the business. You will be responsible for activities and processes that will assist the MR commercial organization achieve business objectives by contributing to and leading projects and initiatives. Through this you will partner with the Sales, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Product Management teams to create value across the entire MR portfolio serving as a business partner that is responsible for activities and processes around both product orders and revenues execution.

Job Description

The MR Commercial Operations Director will have 4 key responsibilities:

Strategy Development & transformation – support cross-functional development and implementation of primary MR commercial & transformation strategies & programmes aligned with overall business objectives. Work with internal & external subject matter experts to support consolidation of latest market, customer & industry trends and dynamics and translation to opportunities and threats to the MR strategy and tactics.

Revenue & Margin Growth programmes – support MR revenue & margin growth through cross-functional alignment and optimization of key activities, including increase of customer “willingness to pay” (value creation & pricing management), enhancing customer retention & upsell and new customers acquisition. Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency, cut costs, and enhance the effectiveness of sales and marketing activities.

Commercial operations management & optimization – streamline core commercial processes, including sales planning & forecasting, funnel management and performance analysis. Ensure commercial teams have the essential information, tools, processes, and resource / support considerations to meet and exceed targets.

Cross-Functional Collaboration – foster collaboration with key cross-functional partners (product, marketing, sales, supply chain, and service) to build a lean approach to commercial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with MR Product and Services business leaders to drive operating performance and act as champion for strategic initiatives within the organization to create value.

  • Partner with Product and Services business leaders to establish strategic imperatives to ensure the fulfillment of business requirements and to optimize business performance through execution of activities such as linking OPSI, DPM, and commercial functions.

  • Partner with the extended Operations teams (i.e. Deal structuring, pricing) as well as Service, Marketing, Commercial Excellence and Global Supply Chain to create value for our customers by identification and implementation of process improvements focused on simplifying commercial processes.

  • Developing the communication, operating mechanisms, data reports and metrics to support key business imperatives supporting orders and revenue execution.

  • Responsible for rationalizing, simplifying, and automating reporting processes, metrics, and data consolidation efforts to facilitate a MR franchise view across products by providing visibility to combined equipment and services performances within the USCAN MR organization.

  • Drive continuous improvement on all related operating mechanisms, processes, documents, and tools, to ensure ongoing standardization and simplification of revenue performance.

  • Support field resources, sales management & zone commercial operations teams in ensuring funnel cleanliness, completeness, & visibility.

  • Identify and coordinate key metrics to improve visibility, win-rate and share performance across the MR business to assist in overall business planning and business development focused on annual operating plans, coverage scenarios & effectiveness, market performance metrics & visibility.

  • Establish, maintain reliable and collaborative relationships across a cross functional environment with commercial operations, commercial excellence, & field resources

  • Develop, drive, and track comprehensive fulfillment plans to meet customer requests while delivering business revenue commitments.

  • Manage MOR (Management Operating Review) structure & agenda and own communication & mobilization of closure of actions, help needed and other follow-up & minutes to relevant owners.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years’ experience in sales, management and or operations OR Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and minimum of 6 years of financial or operational work experience or High School Diploma/GED and minimum of 10 years financial or operational work experience including developing forecasts & operating plans and leading business reviews

  • Experience with financial systems/applications (i.e.: Oracle, SAP, COGNOS, Business Objects, etc.), strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, VLookup, and Macros)

  • Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in a easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing

  • Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions; confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position

  • Experience successfully leading cross-functional projects and process improvement within the operations/finance functions; able to quickly grasp new ideas.

  • Experience leading in a matrixed environment and leveraging other functions to enable team success

  • Adaptable/flexible: being open to change (positive or negative) in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations

  • Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others

  • Basic understanding of financial compliance: SOX, GAAP

  • Trained and/or certified in process improvement methodology such as LEAN or Six Sigma

  • Ability to translate strategy into business objectives

  • Coaching and mentoring experience
