What you'll do... :

H&R Block is looking for a Director of Financial Services – Credit to guide the development of our digital experiences in credit and credit-related products. This position is remote-friendly.

The Director will guide, manage, and coach a team of product managers focused on understanding and addressing the financial health needs of our customers. It will also lead cross-functional teams across the company in support of our products and services. The Director will work closely with executives within the financial services line of business to monitor performance and to develop strategies for future programs to address customer and business needs. The Director will also develop partnerships with external entities to design, develop and implement new products, services, or programs.

The Director will report to the Vice President – Financial Products (link) and will be a key part of the product leadership team at H&R Block.

Day to day you’ll...

• Develop, communicate, and implement the company’s strategy related to consumer credit

• Guide Product Managers and cross-functional teams in identifying customer problems, designing and developing solutions, and delivering impactful product experiences.

• Collaborate with other product teams to develop the overall financial services product portfolio.

• Stay updated on industry trends and potential partners to offer innovative, low-risk products.

• Partner with Risk, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Marketing, and Data Science teams to develop and improve consumer lending products.

• Analyze product and portfolio performance by consumer segment to identify improvement areas.

• Make credit and pricing recommendations to optimize acceptance rates, minimize losses, and increase profitability.

• Work with Risk teams to develop and review underwriting models using traditional and alternative data sources.

• Manage credit risk performance across lending products, both internally and with third-party partners.

• Communicate business and product performance, credit issues, and recommendations to executive teams and bank partners.

• Startup leadership exposure, including building/managing product, design, strategy, and engineering teams

• Experience with alternative lending products and models

• Experience dealing with sponsor bank relationships and regulatory agencies

• Experience with multiple credit reporting agencies, decisioning systems, machine learning and alternative data suppliers

What you'll bring to the team... :

• Degree in business, statistics, mathematics, economics or related field

• 8+ years of experience across business strategy, program or product management disciplines – with direct experience in credit and credit-related products

• Experience in working in highly regulated environments and demonstrated experience in defining creative solutions in concert with risk and compliance stakeholders

• Experience in guiding product and agile processes across teams and adjacent stakeholders

• Experience in team leadership and staff development - leading, managing, and coaching your team to create superior experiences for our customers

• Strong analytical skills, including experience working with a variety of data sources and advanced modeling techniques

• Demonstrated experience modeling financial impacts and managing loss rates

• Strong communication skills, able to effectively communicate with team members, across functions, with senior leadership and with our bank partner
