The Investments business aims to create sustainable competitive advantage for clients in their investment portfolios. This is delivered to clients by providing expert advice on their investments and decision-making processes, making investment decisions on their behalf through delegated investment services and providing investment tools.

Our clients are a diverse range of institutional investors, including large pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations and family offices. As a trusted partner to over 1,200 clients, we advise on over $2.6 trillion of global assets and have discretion over more than $180 billion of assets globally.

The Role

Our 8-week Intern Programme is designed for individuals who are at least in their penultimate year of studies.

An Internship at WTW will give you valuable real-world experience. It will enable you to apply your education in an environment that is both intellectually challenging and rewarding. At the end of your time with us, you will have a greater understanding of what we do and how closely our career offerings match your career ambitions.

You will be treated in the same way as our new graduates receiving the same quality and quantity of work. It is the perfect opportunity to understand what you could expect if you joined our graduate programme the following year.

You will be part of a collaborative team, working alongside some of the industry’s top consultants *.  * You will work on a wide variety of projects working for sophisticated clients, including many household names.

The investment business offers a range of career paths to suit individual skills and interests.  Whether your career path focuses on deep research of global asset classes, managing risk through sophisticated modelling, improving investment outcomes though expert advice or implementing innovative investment solutions, you will find a suitable role at WTW.

You will work in one or more of the following teams:

As a team member you’ll be involved in some, or all, of the below depending on your team:

Client Consulting Team:

• Contribute to managing client relationships

• Offer best-in-class advice and solutions across different asset owners

• Develop client centric investment strategy

• Develop liability hedging strategy

• Monitor portfolio performance

Content Team:

• Develop a deep understanding of investment manager strategies

• Learn the principles of building a robust investment portfolio

• Conduct deep research on global financial markets, asset classes, investment strategies and investment managers

• Produce portfolio analytics, modelling and reports

• Incorporate sustainable investing philosophy

Our clients include Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes, Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes, Wealth Managers, Investment Trusts, Endowments, Foundations, Insurance Companies, and Charities.

We support interns to develop a broad range of technical and soft skills. This breadth of knowledge across the investment spectrum will allow you to identify which topics you find most interesting and explore them further.  There are also opportunities to contribute to extra-curricular projects.

Learning and Development

We are committed to providing continuous professional development to all our colleagues. For interns specifically, we provide:

• An induction process where you can learn what our business does, what resources are available, and who the other new interns are

• A series of investment-specific classroom trainings (both technical and soft-skills)

• On-the-job experiences allowing you to see the immediate impact of your work

• Opportunities to work on a diverse range of client projects with experienced professionals

• A formal mentorship programme in addition to your individual people manager

The Requirements

• Individuals in at least their penultimate year of studies

• On track to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree

The Application Process

Stage 3: Virtual Assessment centre – this is an opportunity for you to meet with members of the team and for the team to understand your strengths, preferences and motivations.  The assessment will take place virtually, and there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions.

*Stage 4: * Offer and on-boarding

Closing Date 30th September 2024

Start date for the UK Intern Programme will be July 2025.
