Akima Buyer I (Temporary) in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama
AFO is looking for a Buyer I to join our team at our Redstone Arsenal, AL location.
Performs duties associated with the buying process. Research products, prepares purchase orders, places orders, and selects vendors. Organizes product information and tracks back orders. Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Studies market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply. Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers, and schedules deliveries. Develops and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Responsibilities
Supplier identification and solicitation.
Placement of purchase order awards, including the development and implementation of enterprise-wide agreements.
Executing consulting agreements.
Post award administration of low to moderate dollar value transactions for various programs in the Akima and its portfolio of companies.
Solicits proposals and negotiates terms for master commodity agreements.
Sources and purchases parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
Performs and documents price analyses.
Compiles information to keep informed on price trends.
Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers’ operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
Reviews proposals, negotiates prices and terms, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up on orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
Prepares bid packages.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
Must have a minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work overtime if needed.
Working knowledge of FAR/DFAR and agency specific regulations.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications.
Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
