Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington
Do you have a passion for supporting game development with best-in-class tools and workflows? Do you get excited about Xbox and the prospect of working directly with our First Party Studios to help them make great games? XGS Support is a central tooling and support team focused on helping our game development teams incorporate new Xbox platform features and technologies.
In this role you be working in a fast paced and dynamic work environment, helping to drive the implementation of common technologies and Xbox platform features for our AAA game developers. You will work with game team developers and stakeholders from the different first party studios, streamlining their workflows, understanding their development challenges, and partnering with them to implement solutions. Our team is focused on empowering our game development teams. We provide direct development support and author shared tools to improve Studios efficiency. We are looking for candidates who have experience developing Xbox and PC games and have familiarity with game development tools, engines, and pipelines. Experience with Xbox Live, PlayFab, and Azure are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience working with game developers supporting development process for shipped products.
Work with game developers and producers to understand the issues they are facing and to design and implement solutions that work with the studios existing processes and workflows
Lead the development effort for adding Xbox platform features to new and existing Xbox Game Studios titles
Develop and maintain a variety of tools and workflows used by our first party game developers
Increase the overall effectiveness of our development teams by analyzing common developer pain points and creating solutions for automating time-consuming process, reducing workload, and improving developer efficiency
BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
At least 5 years of software development experience. At least 2 years in game development
Xbox and Windows game development experience. Ideally, including Xbox, Windows 10, Xbox Live, and XLSP development experience
Strong background in C++ and C# development for shipped games. Highly desirable to also have experience with .NET, Azure, Azure DevOps, Perforce
Experience with source control solutions (ideally Perforce and GIT) and writing tools for them
A service-oriented mindset, focusing on actively helping team members build best in class software
Experience with agile or scrum development practices
