To achieve this goal, the Cloud Hardware Engagement Engineering (CHEE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. Responsible for leading a group of SW Diagnostic Engineers. Responsibilities include staffing, onboarding, mentoring software engineers as well as providing technical leadership for their area of ownership.
Responsible for owning and representing their functional areas from SW design, development, associated test and validation, as well as automation through coding and scripting. Functional areas include development of HW Diagnostic modules for servers and infrastructure components that are deployed in Microsoft Cloud Data Centers. These modules are developed in C, C++ as well as in PowerShell, C#, Python or Pearl in Windows Server 2012/16/19 environment or in Linux environment.
Responsibilities also include collaborating across teams within Microsoft, Server ODMs, OEMs and component vendors for their diagnostics tools and libraries for detection, mitigation and correction of hardware faults.
BS Degree in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
5+ years of successfully managing and leading a team of SW Engineers.
10+ years of hands-on coding and scripting experience (C/C++/C# in Windows Server 2012/16/19 or Linux) coupled with maniacal focus and passion for test, validation, code quality and sustainability.
10+ years of hands-on experience in solving hardware and software problems in PC, Enterprise Server or Cloud Server required.
Command of key technologies such as CPUs (x86, ARM, GPUs), motherboards, BIOS, BMC, memory, PCIe, storage, networking, Power, Thermal and familiarity with manufacturing and system integration processes for cloud servers and racks.
Individual effectiveness skills such as discipline, time management, decision making, planning, organizing work, summarizing results through technical reports are required.
BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred.
Hands on experience in developing Diagnostic Code as well as skills to work in a laboratory environment is a plus.
Candidate must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Must be able to plan work and work to a plan, adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving Environment.
