Kleinschmidt Associates Senior Mechanical Engineering Consultant in Redmond, Washington

Kleinschmidt has a full-time opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineering Consultant to lead mechanical design for hydroelectric, fisheries, and water resources projects. Our office locations in Redmond, WA or Portland, OR would be considered. Salary: $110,000-$211,000/year (based on experience) Who You Are A licensed Professional Engineer with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum of 15 years' experience in mechanical engineering. Experience with hydroelectric design projects and fisheries related or water resource projects is required. Possess excellent problem-solving skills and capable of working collaboratively with clients and team members in a dynamic, multidisciplinary consulting firm. Knowledgeable: Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to the mechanical engineering discipline is required. Experience in the conceptual/feasibility design through final design of new hydroelectric project development and existing project redevelopment. Experience using AutoCAD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software in Solidworks or SolidEdge. Experience working in the field with Clients and Contractors during planning and construction of projects. Mechanical equipment condition assessment and commissioning experience. Project Manager: The candidate will have experience managing project teams that include junior and senior-level staff, drafters, and project coordinators. The candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Relationship-focused: Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction. Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the firm. Ability to mentor others. Additional Requirements Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States and able to acquire authorization to work in Canada Must be willing to travel and possess a valid driver's license About the Position This position is in the engineering discipline of mechanical and typically dealing with unique design issues for fish passage projects, hydroelectric turbines, gates, trash rakes, and hydroelectric balance of plant retrofits and rehabilitation efforts at existing hydroelectric projects as well as the design of new power stations. The position includes the management of multi-discipline projects of varying sizes and complexities.
