Amazon Senior Data Engineer, Kuiper Commercial Revenue Operations in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking a senior data leader to define the data infrastructure and analytics strategy for Kuiper’s commercial revenue operations (CRO). You will deliver (i) foundational infrastructure and integrate into the central data mesh to connect business tools with eCommerce systems; (ii) offer data as a service by hosting data lakes, pipelines, and analytics workbenches; (iii) instrument business metrics and insights for business reviews, operational planning, and run-time operational dashboards for revenue growth and cost reductions; and (iv) provide foresight into customer churn, up-sell / cross-sell recommendations, sales forecasting, and optimizing capacity management for maximizing contribution margin using AI/ML.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop data products, infrastructure and data pipelines leveraging AWS services (such as Redshift, Kinesis, Glue) and internal Amazon tools (Data net, Cradle, QuickSight etc.)

  • Build BI solutions and define the BizOps team's BI strategy. Deliver the BizOps Data Lake architectural design and enhancements.

  • Provides robust BI solutions for complex problems, that are extensible and scalable.

  • Communicate effectively with senior management audiences (e.g., narratives, inputs into monthly/quarterly business reviews).

  • Refine data strategies that cut across functional teams and make technical trade-off decisions for long term/short-term needs.

  • Understand business requirements and provide customer, marketing, sales, operations, and planning metrics.

  • Design data pipelines and implement appropriate security, permissions, and access control models.

  • Support BizOps leaders and teams in ingesting data, analysis, dashboards, business review metrics, and other analytical insights as required.

  • Capture and analyze process insights to drive strategic shifts in product offering, service plans and pricing, that impact the business decisions across functional teams.

  • Drives best practices in operational excellence, data modeling, and analysis. Ensure that BI solutions are correctly and efficiently supporting the business

  • Participate in hiring activities and mentor junior team members

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

  • Experience with AWS tech stack

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

  • Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
