Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineering Manager in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager with security mindset in distributed systems, identity and access management who can design and deliver investigation, detection and protection systems. We are the IDNA Security team with the mission to protect Entra services. We are a close community of engineers that play multiple roles -- work closely with various services, truly understand their needs, build solutions that strengthen them, and help services launch and run securely. A key leadership responsibility involves influencing and shaping the future of security systems in partnership with multiple stakeholders across the company . For that role, we are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to join our mission of protecting Entra by building and operating the security frameworks that make Entra and its customers the most secure in the world. Responsibilities

• Build and run security systems, data platforms that provide detection of anti-patterns and anomalies via machine learning.

• Collaborate across multiple services, organizations in IDNA

• Establish durable scenario based extensible investigation, detection, protection frameworks

• Mentor and coach engineers in the team for achieving goals with agility.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years technical expertise in one of Identity Access Management systems or Infrastructure, Operational security at scale or Data platforms, technologies

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience leading an engineering team

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
