The SAFE (Scan and Front End) team is dedicated to safeguarding Microsoft's and third-party supply chains. By operating services at scale, we meticulously scan files, applications, and content to identify and neutralize malware and vulnerabilities. Our efforts are pivotal in preventing malicious actors from exploiting Microsoft releases and marketplaces to target end-users.

We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineering Manager to drive our services at scale to protect Microsoft's customers from malware. Responsibilities

  • Lead an engineering team that develop and maintain services responses for anti-malware scanning in the cloud

  • Collaborate with PM team, customers and partner security teams

  • Innovate in engineering and detection word to continuously keep services, safe, high performing and high quality

  • Being a hands-on engineer, lead engineering cycle, from design & planning, to code quality & testing, to production & monitoring

  • Drive service quality improvement cycle, include driving live site / pre- & post- mortem conversations, privacy and compliance reviews etc.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical disciplineAND6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, butnot limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • ORequivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of professional experience developing services at scale in cloud environments

  • 3+ years of professional experience in people management.

Other requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldAND10+ years technicalengineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • ORMaster's Degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldAND8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in security operations, such as malware analysis or PEN testing

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
