The Windows Incubation team is chartered to explore new concepts for Windows in a cloud- and web-first world.

Our team is looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to build and lead a talented team of passionate engineers. You will work on innovative Web and platform technologies to prototype and explore new experiences. You and your team will partner with Product Management and Design to ideate and build new experiences aligned with the mission to drive cloud first experiences into Windows, create prototypes to validate early thinking, and use on-going customer data and research to validate our ideas. You will be responsible for defining architectures, engineering plans and processes in your team that drive quality and agility and move the team from ideation to shipping. You will play a key leadership role in defining and promoting an inclusive team culture with the best engineering practices to deliver experiences with quality and customer love. Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of high performing engineers to lead,design, and build anew set of Web and cloud experiences andplatform technologies.

  • Partner with Product Management and Design to deeply understand customer needs. Define business, quality, and experience outcomes and goals that define what your team builds.

  • Demonstrate engineering excellence through commitment to quality execution, testing, maintainability, continuous improvement, and customer empathy.

  • Lead recruiting and interviewing exceptional team members. Coach and provide feedback to your teamto grow their impact, skills, and careers.

  • Actively scope the work on your team, using team capabilities and skills to optimize what gets done. Use appropriate tradeoffs and embraces constraints to ship and deliver results.

  • Effectively lead architectural reviews, planning and execution processes, createrobust engineering plans and prioritize work across team members. Make timely decisions to meet quality and shipping goals.

  • Provide technical feedback in guidance to your team through architecture and code reviews, with a demonstrated commitment to learning and improvement.

  • Drive excellence in creating detailed execution plans and holding yourself and the teamaccountable for delivering results.

  • Contribute to coding, testing, investigating and fixing bugs as necessary.

  • Find opportunities for collaboration across teams, works on cross-team commitments, and achieve scale by enabling the work of others across Microsoft.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in CS or related engineering field or equivalent experience/education.

  • Established track record of leading teams that ship fast, high quality, high customer satisfaction experiences using HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and modern component-oriented Web libraries, or experience with C++ and Windows APIs.

  • 3+ years managing high performing engineering teams with hands on experience driving key design and architecture decisions.

  • Demonstrated hypothesis-driven,problem-solving approach to engineering through prototyping.

  • Commitment to continued learning and demonstrated willingness to stay abreast of Web platformand programming advancements, including relevant Web and cloud development trends across the competitive landscape.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills through all levels of the organization, technical and nontechnical.

  • Experience with open-source development technologies is a plus.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies is a plus.
