We are hiring a Principal Software Engineering Manager to help expand the core capabilities of Ads Frontdoor and Experimentation Platform. The stack is a low-latency, high-scale geo-distributed system with components such as Ads Traffic Routing, Ads Frontdoor, Ads Response, Supply and Demand Side Experimentation.
This is a manager role: as a senior technical leader it requires setting the technical direction for the projects in the area, and with ability to dig deeper and hands on skills. We are looking for someone who has a demonstrated history of solving hard technical problems and is motivated to tackle the hardest problem in ads online serving system and help us to scale to next level for scalability, agility and efficiency, to support next generation Ads scenarios on surfaces such as Copilot, Bing Serp, MSN, Gaming etc.

Responsibilities
Manage a team of around 15 developers in United States of America.
Design and develop large-scale distributed software services and solutions in collaboration with teammates.
Participate in the definition of key scenarios, use cases, and end-user experiences.
Design services with a strong focus on high availability, low latency and high scalability, robustness, and observability.
Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with engineering and product teams.
Drive long-term design thinking for systems and engineering processes with simplicity and maintainability as core tenets
Take end-to-end responsibility for the development, observability, quality, testing, and production readiness of the services you build.
Develop “best-in-class” engineering for our services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, reusable, diagnosable, and actively monitored.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
8+ years of people management experience.
8+ years of experience building microservices/distributed systems and applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
10+ years people management experience.
Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
