Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Office 365 Ecosystem Service Platform team is building the next generation developer experience. We need talented engineers who can design and build a set of intuitive, powerful, and scalable foundational services/APIs that enable our partner engineers to deliver phenomenal end user experiences.


As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be able to make a broad positive impact that will include building appealing developer experiences, solving complex algorithmic problems, forging real-time troubleshooting tools via complex data models, streamlining our monitoring systems, evolving our metrics to enable large scale performance optimizations, or even enabling intricate business/engineering processes.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience with architecting and building large-scale complex enterprise services on cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and shipping complex enterprise software products/services

  • Hands-on ability to write secure, reliable, and maintainable code and to test and debug it

  • Knowledge of RESTful web services technologies like JSON, WebAPI, ASP.Net, and OData

  • Experience with Big Data/Analytic Systems like Cosmos or Hadoop implementations

  • Ability to operate and be successful in a highly ambiguous, rapidly evolving environment

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
