The Windows Fundamentals (FUN) team is looking for an energetic and driven Principal Product Manager to deliver delightful experiences with great fundamentals for our users.

The Windows Fundamentals (FUN) team mission is to drive great fundamentals across Windows by partnering with engineering teams on marquee experiences and empowering teams with tools and platforms to measure, refine, and ship delightful experiences. The FUN team invests in optics to understand product truth, defense platforms and tools to prevent backsliding, and go on offense to get ahead of the competition and drive best-in-class product improvements.

As a Principal Product Manager, you’ll continue our tradition of taking a data-driven, principled approach to our partnerships and holding ourselves and partners to a high bar. You will partner across the company with key teams such as Teams, Edge, Office, and Surface, as well as outside the company with silicon Independent Hardware Vendors (IHV) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to help land high quality, delightful AI, OS, and app experiences that showcase great fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering and feature teams to define priorities for investment, strategies for product improvement, delivering at scale, and investing in systems and tools to improve fundamentals.

  • Engage deeply with partners to achieve our shared goals.

  • Exhibit technical depth and an affinity for technical challenges and diving deep while collaborating with partner teams in the perf/power/silicon spaces.

  • Think holistically and strategically to plan, organize, and manage complex technical products.

  • Use data to draw insights, answer hard questions, and guide actions.

  • Communicate complex ideas to others in a clear, effective, and motivating manner.

  • Collaborate and work effectively across broad teams and influence stakeholders of all levels and of all disciplines across Microsoft.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product leadership abilities with demonstrated strategic thinking and vision.

  • Ability to effectively define product and functional specifications with definition of customer value and business impact while understanding the technical aspects.

  • Ability to lead through ambiguity while partnering across organizations.

  • Ability to drive cross-functional teams, partners, and cross-org leadership teams and experience in working across geo distributed teams.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and drive for results.

  • Ability to come up-to-speed quickly on new technical domains.

  • Experience building search, user & intent understanding, or informational retrieval systems.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
