Microsoft Corporation Principal Front End Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Cloud Ecosystem Security team is one of Microsoft's fastest growing businesses, with the mission to make the world safer and more productive for all. The team protects Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform, builds security product offerings for customers across clouds, and contributes to the global ecosystem of defenders, researchers and security policy makers.

As the Principal Front End Software Engineer, you will lead product features and experiences for a new security marketplace offering. This exciting new product offering will help partners build on new security platform capabilities such as Security Copilot, extend capabilities of Microsoft’s existing security products (Defender, Sentinel and Purview across M365 and Azure), and offer organizations of all sizes a purpose-built, trustworthy one-stop marketplace that meets their security software needs. 

The successful candidate will be an experienced software development leader, with a track record of collaboration working across diverse and complex teams. Deep customer empathy and the ability to translate individual customer needs into requirements for broad platform experiences is critical.

  • Drive task planning, code reviews and leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents

  • Guides partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., product management, architect) to determine user requirements within and across teams.

  • Experienced design and problem-solving skills, with a focus for quality and engineering excellence at scale

  • Creates and applies metrics to drive the quality and stability of code, as well as appropriate coding patterns and best practices.

  • Acts as a leader and advocate for software development fundamentals and best practices in all aspects of development including tooling and processes in their own and partner teams

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of Web UI development experience including responsive design/progressive web apps.

  • 3+ years of experience designing, buildingand shipping large marketplaces or scale cloudservices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior deep experience in building security applications/services or extensive experience building online marketplaces and digital storefront experiences

  • Experience running engineering teams or projects with ambiguity

  • Experience working across disciplines and teams with collaboration

  • Track record in developing Web-centric features, frameworks, or services using C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML5, or similar languages

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
