Actalent Mechanical Test Engineer III in Redmond, Washington

Job Title: Mechanical Test Engineer IIIJob Description

The main function of a Mechanical Test Engineer III is to research and test the design functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems, and processes, and develop quality standards. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and evaluate product integrity and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Devise sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.

  • Establish programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of production equipment, testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.

  • Write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.

  • Specialize in areas of quality control engineering such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software research and development, and administrative application.

  • Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

  • Experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or other related technical field or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience developing novel testing methods and architecting test equipment for small form factor, electromechanical consumer products.

  • Experience executing mechanical stress testing including force/displacement testing.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to define testing requirements and metrics to drive maturity of research grade hardware.

  • 4+ years of experience with 3D CAD design modeling (NX, Solidworks), Python, Matlab, statistical analysis, fabrication, robotics, motion control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with Python, Matlab, or equivalent.

  • Experience with statistical data analysis and conducting measurement system analysis.

  • Knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes and experience with assembly of electro-mechanical systems.

  • Experience specifying and integrating instrumentation and motion control systems (motors, drivers, encoders, pressure transducers, accelerometers, flow sensors).

  • Experience with robotics bring-up and programming.

Work Environment

The work environment involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires proficiency in various engineering software and tools. The role includes hands-on work with mechanical fabrication, assembly of electro-mechanical systems, and integration of instrumentation and motion control systems. The position demands a detail-oriented, team player capable of providing constructive feedback and leading training sessions on quality control activities.
