You will be a technically intense workload expert within the Microsoft enterprise sales organization working with our most important customers. You play a key role in the total sales cycle by helping them with their end-to-end business transformation needs through envisioning, designing and demonstrating solutions mapped to business value within the area of your workload expertise. Executing with excellence you will collaborate across the sales opportunity journey with the Business Applications sales team, Microsoft partners and ISVs, other Technical Specialists and our Customer Success team.


The Business Applications Technical Specialist is a key member of the Business Applications sales pursuit team and is a strategic thinker, proactive problem solver, sales & technical roadblock resolver displaying a growth mindset with deep functional and technical knowledge in the workload.

The following are the role responsibilities for the Microsoft Business Applications Technical Specialist:

You will partner with a Business Applications Sales Executive in sales pursuit, in envisioning solution using ISV components, by assembling and collaborating with a technical pursuit team that includes partner and ISV resources .

  • You will drive the advancement of the Power Platform and the of the overall Biz Apps Cloud / Power Platform portfolio, also encompassing the Dynamics 365 (CRM/ERP) business solutions areas such as: Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Field Service, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Retail/Commerce and or/ Finance.

  • You will partner with a Bus Apps sales executive, your strategic global account teams and customer success manager to build the business case for the Power Platform / Dynamics 365 (CRM/ERP) Business Solution Portfolio

  • You will be the subject matter expert for your Time Zone sales team for Dynamics 365, Power Platform development ecosystem; and will lead competitive strategy for the Power Platform within your account teams.

  • You will work with your account teams to obtain a strong understanding of each account’s governance and decision processes and the customer’s business & technology priorities.

You will help customers make technical decisions to build tomorrow’s business and IT solutions based on Microsoft technology.

  • You will lead technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, architecture design sessions, proofs of concepts, and pilots to explain, demonstrate, and prove to our largest customers the capabilities of Power Platform products and services, D365 Business solutions (ERP/CRM) / Applications and how we can make their businesses more successful.

  • You will own winning the technical decision at customers for sales opportunities and usage scenarios, through tailoring your message, bringing ideas to customers, engaging with them to show our technology differentiation, and guiding them in decision-making.

  • You will work with partners and others at Microsoft, as well as use our core tools, social connection tools, and AI-driven data to extend your reach and the reach of your team, focusing on satisfying important customer needs.

You will be a vital connection and orchestration point for a variety of technical resources, by:

  • Orchestrating complex solutions with internal and external partners for multiple Microsoft products and services.

  • Helping identify and diagnose technical, architectural, and competitive blockers and respective solutions for sales opportunities and usage decision blockers, and helping pave the way for successful implementation.

  • Sharing practical knowledge with partners to drive the sale of Dynamics 365 Business Solutions (CRM/ERP) / Power Platform solutions.

  • Shaping current and future products, marketing strategies, and customer-centric ideas through your feedback to sales, marketing, and engineering.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years’ of applicable workload expertise with one or more of the following: technical presales, postsales consulting or relevant company/customer IT application implementation or management

  • Driving and designing a solution strategy as part of the overall opportunity lifecycle

  • Extensive collaboration with technical pursuit teams designing cloud-based customer solutions

  • Deep understanding of Power Apps from a build capacity

  • Success working with customers/stakeholders in presales or consulting engagements related to business applications workloads

  • Proven success demonstrating differentiated solution value and competitive advantage

  • Delivering customer-facing technical workload demonstrations to enterprise decision makers Desirable but not required – workload certifications/degrees

Deep understanding of:

  • Business solutions (CRM/ERP) workload expertise in one or more of the following: Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Field Service, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Retail/Commerce and/or Finance and how these solutions help customers achieve their desired business outcomes

  • Business value selling methodologies and practices mapped to customer persona pains/issues to uncover customer’s stated and unstated needs

  • Commercial cloud offerings, ideally Microsoft’s cloud platform, as well as competitive knowledge of other business applications solutions and related ecosystems

Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience required.
