How does this role contribute to our collective success?

As a member of the actuarial team supporting the North American Programs business unit, this individual will directly contribute towards managing the portfolio strategy of the Programs book. They will proactively engage with Reserving, Risk Management, Finance, Claims, and Data & Analytics colleagues to achieve desired business outcomes and implement business strategies.

What will you do in this role?

  • Support the North American Programs Business Unit through profitability studies, price monitoring, planning, and new opportunity analyses.

  • Synthesize information across subject areas and present conclusions to individual line underwriting leaders as well as divisional management.

  • Contribute to the selection of expected loss ratios for financial planning in consideration of business strategies, market conditions, mix of business, loss trend, loss costs and reinsurance structures.

  • Collaborate with Data and Analytics colleagues to implement more comprehensive data capture.

  • Monitoring the execution of underwriting actions and strategy implementation; assessing the impact of these on the account’s profile and emerging claims experience.

  • Maintain the feedback loop of information and analyses between the pricing, reserving, capital modelling and business planning processes.

  • You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:

  • Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, or other relevant actuarial organization.

  • Advanced user of Excel and can perform lookup functions, pivot tables and nested IF statements to create analysis from multiple large data sets.

  • Experienced user of SQL with knowledge of how to query data.

  • Ability to translate the results of analytical work into opinion and recommendations.

  • Self-starter, proactive and a quick learner. Willing to question and investigate.

  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to establish credibility with senior underwriters and business unit leaders.

  • Attention to detail with work that is technically sound.

  • Timeliness of delivery and appropriate prioritization when there are conflicting demands.

What we prefer you to have:

  • Experience with MGA business.

  • Experience with Admitted filings.

  • Experience with large account pricing.

  • Experience maintaining databases.

  • Experience building pricing models.

Role Factors:

  • Show continued progress on actuarial exams.

  • Be in the office 3 days per week.

  • Occasional travel for business.

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $155,000 to $180,000 (NY/NJ), $140,000 to $165,000 (GA), $150,000 to $175,000 (IL). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate performance and your individual performance.
