METALLURGIST - Technology
PRIMARY DUTIES for this position\ Provide a range of technical services to internal and external customers supporting the attainment of company goals.\ Disposition of referred, non-conforming and off standard material, including but not limited to RMR\'s and customer claims. Applies statistical methods to solve problems and design experiments.\ Applies SPC, six-sigma and/or BPI tools to detect and eliminate project and/or process inefficiencies.\ Manages functional project teams to address and solve complex technical problems and recognize business trends for alloy and process development - including project planning and budget compliance.\ Provides support, leadership and guidance to peers, customers, and managers in key projects.\ Recognizes and communicates technical risk to management.\ Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS for this position\ Four-year college degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.\ 4+ years of relevant experience with consistently strong performance and the ability to access mill and manufacturing areas.\ Working knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.\ Strong written and verbal communications skills, customer service skills and interpersonal skills.\ Ideal candidate will be self-directed and have demonstrated experience training and educating customers and provide leadership to less experienced metallurgists. Ability to identify potential new products, processes and partners.\ Ability to travel to other sites as needed.
