Alpek Polyester Machine Operator in Reading, Pennsylvania
Simultaneously operate one or more operating lines safely to produce quality products, meet team goals, and maintain product safety. Work in a team environment supporting fellow employees to meet team production goals, including quality and product safety.

An operator in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual is expected to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The operator must work in a SAFE and professional manner including following lockout -- tagout procedures.
Ensure processes, on the assigned lines, run stable at standard speed and output.
Use instruments, machine readings, audits, and inspections to verify quality specifications compliance. Document results on time per process records required
Have a working knowledge of machines
Operate and make standard process adjustments as needed,
while maintaining Process Parameters Sheet (PPS) compliance, to ensure product quality, process stability, and output
Perform and document Operator level equipment preventive maintenance (PM)
Perform process PM (i.e. change filters, change dust collection pots, clean out piping buildup, etc.)
Experience with pelletizers a plus
Possess and engage a thorough working knowledge of machines
Understand, properly interpret, and apply quality specifications to ensure quality compliance during the process on assigned lines
Effectively communicate with fellow employees, sharing information to ensure team is working towards and meeting team goals
Responsible to take material samples on time at all sampling points and do first pass assessment of quality
Notify Supervisor of needed machine and equipment repairs and modifications, via Work Requests
Accurately complete daily production line documentation
Provide significant hands-on contribution to machine repairs, as needed
Maintain clean orderly equipment and work areas
Produce safe, legal, and quality products
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully the individual must have the following or equivalent:
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. (Work experience may be substituted for diploma)
OSHA forklift certification is a plus
Minimum of 3 years machine operating experience
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in English
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Work Relationships:
Works with: All employees in or related to the production and maintenance areas
Reports to: Shift Team Leader
Supervises: None
Working Conditions:
Work requires normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
Corrected hearing and vision to normal acceptable range
A significant amount of time will be spent in a production environment
Production area is not climate controlled and may experience extreme temperatures
This position requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders
Driving of cars, trucks, forklifts, or other equipment may be needed
Working at heights, climbing ladders and stairs required
Ear plugs, hard hat, gloves, and high temperature protective gear required
Use of fall PPE protection as required
This position requires approximately 8-10 hours per day standing and/or walking
Flexible to workday/Evening/Night/Weekends and Holidays

To ensure product safety, this individual:
Adheres to Alpek Industries, LLC's GMP requirements
Identifies product and/or situations that risk product contamination
Identifies products and/or situations that violate cleaning and pest control requirements
Reports equipment needing repair to supervision and avoid temporary repairs
Any recent maintenance work was cleaned up and does not pose any risk to the product
Follows applicable PRPs and OPRP's (as required)
Practices good hygiene and does not eat or drink in the production area or smoke except in designated areas outside the building. (water in plastic bottles is allowed)

Machine Setups for Production Runs
Machine Safety Inspections
Plastic Extrusion Experience

Experience in a Manufacturing Environment

1st Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
