job summary:

A Mechanical Drafter is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Rapid City, SD area. The main function of a mechanical drafter is to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.

location: Rapid City, South Dakota

salary: $17.25 - 22.65 per hour

work hours: 8am to 4pm

education: Associates

responsibilities:

• Develop design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using CAD.

• Coordinate with team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems, resolving design issues.

• Use mathematical formulas to develop detailed specifications for components or machinery.

• Add instructions and comments to drawings.

• Design blueprints for specialty items like furniture and automobile components.

• Check material dimensions and assign material numbers.

• Create schematic, orthographic, or angle views showing functional relationships of components, assemblies, and machines.

Skills:

• Creativity and good communication skills.

• Analytical and problem-solving ability.

• Detail-oriented and a team player.

• Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for creating precision technical plans and drawings.

• Practical knowledge of engineering science and technology.

• Experience with CADD software (e.g., NX).

Education and Experience:

• AAS degree in CADD or a related field.

• 2-4 years of experience required.
