Summary This National Guard position is for a DETAILED INSPECTOR GENERAL, Position Description Number NGT5233P01 and is part of JFHQ. Permanent position. This is a National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service position. Concurrently advertised as Title 32, only one will be filled. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: -The Public Responsibilities As a DETAILED INSPECTOR GENERAL, GS-1801-12, you will: Position serves as staff action officer and confidential representative within the State/Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), Inspector General (IG) Office as required for all States and Territories. The purpose of this position is to report to the State/JFHQ IG on discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training, and readiness of the State National Guard. Provides assistance to Soldiers, Airmen, and their family members on a wide range of issues and subjects. . Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized Experience: 1 year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) listed below. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Knowledge of organization/activity, NGB/DA/DAF/DOD, organizational structures, and their functional interrelationships. Knowledge of established management principles and operating procedures plus skill in applying fact-finding and investigative techniques to gather clear-cut factual evidence of waste and abuse, or compliance with regulations. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues/inspections or investigations/inquiries concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations (discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, training and readiness) carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions (i.e., internal activities or functions such as supply, budget, procurement, or personnel which serve to facilitate line or program operations). Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources (people, money, or equipment) in the area studied. Knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the activity. Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative and technical programs, along with knowledge of the mission, organization, and work processes of programs throughout a military command, complex multi-mission JFHQ (St), or equivalent, and the relationships of administrative support activities (e.g., data processing accounting, budget) to such missions. Knowledge in conducting inspections, inquires, investigations, analyzing findings, and making recommendations on substantive operating programs; (e.g., weapons testing or commodity management). Knowledge and skill in preparing project papers and staffs reports, organizing and delivering briefings to managers for understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. Knowledge of managing an internal office budget.
